EMI Solutions Wins Prestigious Maryland ESGR Freedom Award

BETHESDA, MD; Apr. 6, 2022 — EMI Solutions issued the following statement after the Maryland chapter of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) announced that EMI had won a 2022 Freedom Award in the category of “Small Business Under 500 Employees.”

“We are thrilled to be recognized as a Freedom Award winner from the state of Maryland,” said Chief Executive Officer and Founder Evelyn Gallego. “We are proud to support those who wear the uniform and our veteran community. We know that the rights and freedoms we cherish are defended by our service members, and it is truly an honor to be recognized by ESGR for our unwavering commitment to our National Guard members and reservists,” said Gallego.

“We are excited to showcase our firm as a strong supporter of our military and to receive this accolade from ESGR,” said Kristopher Haag, Managing Director of EMI. “We believe in a strong national defense and appreciate the sacrifices our Guard and Reserve members make as they balance their civilian and military careers with very different responsibilities. We are grateful to receive this award and look forward to continuing this partnership with ESGR,” said Haag.

Dr. Stephen Maguire, State Chair of the Maryland ESGR praised the selection of EMI as Maryland ESGR’s Freedom Award Nominee in the Small Business (under 500 employees) category.

“In these challenging times, while the service member deploys both stateside and abroad, it is also a heavy burden for the employer,” said Maguire. “EMI Solutions clearly demonstrates their unwavering commitment and dedication to support their Navy Reservist Lieutenant Dino Teppara. EMI truly deserves the Freedom Award on behalf of the Maryland ESGR Committee.”

“I am very thankful to be part of the EMI team and for the support our leadership has shown me,” said Teppara. “This enables me to be a productive member of our defense team while meeting my obligations to the Navy and my shipmates. I value the contributions I can make in my civilian position along with my role as a reserve Naval officer. This ESGR award demonstrates that employers of any size can make a commitment to support their employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve. This is a win-win for local communities, as our all-volunteer force needs support from their civilian employers to serve their country. This ESGR Freedom Award is well-deserved, as EMI has gone over and beyond to support me, and I am pleased that the firm is being recognized as a military-friendly employer in the state of Maryland,” stated Teppara.

ESGR, a U.S. Department of Defense program, was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between reserve component service members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee’s military commitment. ESGR is supported by a network of more than 3,000 volunteers in 54 committees located across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam-CNMI (Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands), Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
